OUR ‘NASTY’ SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM – CRAMPS

Even though I did not eat a thing the next day, the cramps reached up to the breastbone and did not subside until the evening, after I had taken a prolonged hot shower.

It was this experience which helped me understand why one of my friends, who had been very worried about the sale of his business, had to undergo surgery several weeks later because of extremely painful stomach ulcers. Doctors and physiotherapists seem to be correct in assuming that practically all stomach ulcers are the result of spasms caused by worries, upsets and anxiety. This does not mean to say that the acute symptoms need be as drastic as they were in my case. Constant spasmodic cramping of the stomach muscles can, and usually will, lead to ulcers.
