FEVER – COOPERATING WITH NATURE
Pericarditis or rheumatic fever, perhaps even pneumonia, may attack you. We are all too familiar with the story of how a new drug can cure a disease with amazing speed, yet bring unpleasant side effects with it. Surely even orthodox medicine must begin to conclude from experience that ‘wonder’ drugs do not get to the root of the disease and that nature can neither be circumvented nor overpowered with impunity. The wild animal is often wiser than civilised man when it comes to knowing what nature requires for healing and recuperation.
In future, therefore, refuse to be guided by misguided views and dulled instincts. If we follow nature’s lead, it can only be for our good. If, on the contrary, we ignore its direction, we are the ones who will suffer. We should always consider fever as nature’s alarm bell, and need not fear it. If we cooperate with nature instead of resisting, it will be to our mutual benefit.
